From here, you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of Shanghai's skyline and cityscape, overlooking famous buildings in all directions. If you are interested, you can also visit the Shanghai Sky Post Office, the world's tallest post office, to send a special message from above to your family and friends. Then, visit the Shanghai Museum, one of China's four major museums, to admire a variety of exquisite traditional and precious cultural relics, gaining a deeper understanding of China's long and rich history and culture. Known as the 'half of the cultural relics world,' the Shanghai Museum is designed with a round top and a square base, reflecting the ancient Chinese concept of 'heavenly roundness and earthly squareness.' The museum houses over 1.02 million artifacts, including the most valuable pieces from China's 5000-year civilization. Among the highlights are the Da Ke Ding, a bronze vessel dating back about 3000 years; the Jinhou Su Bell, an ancient musical instrument from the Western Zhou period; the Shang Yang Fang Sheng, a relic from Shang Yang's reforms; and the Zizhong Jiang Pan, a bronze vessel from the Spring and Autumn period featuring over 30 aquatic animals. The Bund, located on the west bank of the Huangpu River, is one of Shanghai's iconic landmarks, often referred to as the' Exhibition of International Architecture.' Day 3 | Shanghai fly to Lhasa: pick-up service + hotel accommodation After breakfast, you will have some free time in Shanghai before the driver takes you to the airport for a flight to Lhasa. Upon arrival in Lhasa, our driver will be waiting for you at the airport exit. Upon your arrival on the plateau, it is most important for you to slow down and relax. We will take you to the hotel for a full rest so that your body can gradually adapt to the plateau atmosphere. Zaxi Delo!! Warm reminder: On the day you arrive in Lhasa, avoid strenuous activities and do not bathe that night to prevent catching a cold. Avoid alcohol. Day 4 | A one-day tour of Lhasa: Potala Palace + Jokhang Temple + Barkhor Street After breakfast, visit the Potala Palace, the world's highest ancient palace-fortress complex. The Potala Palace is situated on Marpori Hill in the northwest of Lhasa, a magnificent structure that combines elements of a palace, fortress, and temple. It is the largest and most complete ancient palace-fortress complex in Tibet. Built into the mountain, the Potala Palace has 13 stories, stands 117.19 meters tall, and stretches over 400 meters from east to west. As you ascend the long staircase of the Potala Palace, you will enjoy panoramic views of Lhasa, taking photos and resting along the way. Then, step into the Potala Palace to explore this mysterious and ancient palace, rarely depicted in pictures online. Then, visit the Jokhang Temple, a sacred site for Tibetan Buddhist believers. The Jokhang Temple, originally constructed in 647 AD, has a history of 1350 years. It is the most magnificent building from the Tubo period that still stands in Tibet, featuring 5 golden roofs and 108 Buddha halls. Here, you can see the world-renowned life-size statue of the 12-year-old Sakyamuni and devout pilgrims paying homage at the Jokhang Temple. Day 5 | Lhasa to Shigatse one day tour: Yamdrok Lake + Karola Glacier After breakfast, you will take a vehicle to Shigatse, the capital of the western Tibet region. On the way, you will cross the Gangba La Pass at an altitude of 4,600 meters, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Gangba La Radar Station. Afterward, you will continue on to visit Yamdrok Yumco, the world's highest freshwater lake. Known as Yamdrok Yumco or simply Yamdrok Lake, it is Tibetan for' Swan Lake. 'Situated at an elevation of 4,441 meters, it is one of the three sacred lakes in Tibet. The lake's beauty is unparalleled in southern Tibet, where the crystal-clear waters, towering snow-capped mountains, and clear blue skies blend into a breathtaking landscape that leaves visitors spellbound. Day 6 | One day tour of Mount Everest in Shigatse: Mount Everest Base Camp + Rongbu Temple After breakfast, you will take a vehicle to the Mount Everest Base Camp. Along the way, you will cross the 5,100-meter-high Jia Wula Pass, where you can witness the magnificent sight of four snow-capped peaks over 8,000 meters high in a row. From left to right, these peaks are: Makalu (8,463 meters), Lhotse (8,516 meters), Mount Everest (8,848 meters), and Cho Oyu (8,201 meters). Then, you will head to the world's highest nature reserve, Mount Everest, and the world's highest temple, Rongbuk Monastery (at an altitude of 4,900 meters). From here, you can gaze southward at Mount Everest, which is widely recognized as the best vantage point for viewing the mountain. Afterward, you will take an eco-friendly vehicle to the base camp of Mount Everest, situated at an altitude of 5,200 meters, where you will stay overnight. Located within the Daci' en Temple, this pagoda is the oldest and largest surviving Tang Dynasty square pavilion-style brick tower, with a seven-story structure standing approximately 64 meters tall. The Forbidden City, also known as the Purple Forbidden City, is situated at the heart of Beijing's central axis. You can start by taking a cable car to the 14th watchtower, then walk westward, enjoying the magnificent mountain views and the grandeur of the Great Wall along the way. Finally, reach the highest point, the 20th watchtower, to complete your Great Wall journey.
